Bethany Allsop Shave

Hi! My name is Bethany & I've happily spent my life in the company of dogs - in fact I wouldn't have it any other way. As a child I grew up with parents who were active in the local AKC kennel club and showed and bred Collies. I took on my first training client at the age of 10 - and never looked back!
I knew from a very young age my career would somehow involve animals. I've always had a tendency to care for the sick and injured and my family thought for sure that would lead to a career in veterinary medicine - and they weren't wrong.

I attended Medialle College in Buffalo starting in the Veterinary Technician program but ended up graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business. I began pursuing my MBA through Medaille but when Molson got sick, that was put on hold to have extra time with him.
I've worked at both Brighton-Eggert Animal Hospital & Sheridan Animal Hospital and thoroughly enjoyed my time in practice.
I currently work for Trupanion, a pet insurance company, as a claims adjuster where I have the ability to work from home - or really anywhere with a wifi connection! This allows me to use my knowledge of veterinary medicine wile still helping pets and owners outside of the veterinary practice. I truly believe in and recommend Pet Insurance to everyone, and the freedom of working from home allows me to never have to leave my dogs and always be there for your pet as well!

My dogs are my partners and my family! I actively train and compete my dogs in conformation (think Westminster Dog Show or the Best In Show movie), obedience, rally obedience and agility. Whatever my dogs are willing to try - we try! I've done scent work, barn hunt, herding, fly ball, dock diving, trick training and my dogs have even been models! I proudly breed and raise AKC Irish Wolfhounds.

I’m certified through the American Kennel Club for STAR puppy, Canine Good Citizen (all three levels), and TRICK dog to evaluate and test your dog. These are titles that you can work toward and officially add onto your dogs name! I specialize in herding breeds and their unique behavior concerns - with the often challenging German Shepherd still my favorite breed since I was a small child.

My passion and love for animals, especially dogs, mean's that I will welcome your pet into my heart and treat them as my own.
Fifteen years ago, I struggled to find someone who I trusted to watch my dogs - and found that problem to be one I wanted to solve. My background in veterinary medicine gives me the confidence and ability to care for your special needs or elderly pet with the same love and care that you do.

My passion for training and showing my dogs as well as educating owners shines through in all of my group classes and private training. Dog training is my most favorite activity and I’m so lucky to be able to share my knowledge with so many clients.

Thank you for your consideration and for supporting my small, local, woman owned company!
